The contemporary Sheffield cutlers are wary of blade stamp for the same reason. I guess, in the past, when blade stamps were common, blades were forged, but I have seen plenty of stamps applied to stock removal blades, without warping

I started out just meaning to say it's always weird to see the old ghost of the Pertinux owl, but digressed into a vacuous romp through blade-stamping.
