I've got a first pattern steel helmet (I think they call it the 1917 pattern) without insert, and a pattern 1935 steel helmet. What's nice about my pattern 1935 is that it is in an un-issued state. Not even grease on the leather liner.

Although I'd rather not say exactly, it is pretty large, especially in the edged weapon category (surprise, surprise!
