Ok, it`s a simple enough question: -
How do I make hide glue?
I think that I`m going to have to hide back my bow as it has too much sapwood. The instructions I have recommend using hide glue.
Do I just boil down a load of raw hide?

I believe Lee Valley Tools (www.leevalley.com) offers hide glue. It's a Canadian outfit, so its prices are pretty good ($1 Canadian = 65 cents US). You might also try a furniture maker or cabinet maker.

The easiest way is to buy a powdered form and mix with water and heat per the instructions. Three Rivers Archery I would imagine has it. Also, many guys that sell bow staves and bow building materials would probably have access to it.

Good luck!

If you have to go traditional the above sugg.
are great. If not Barge cement really will
work the best. It's a contact cement that
will not harden. You can get it from just
about any retail place that sells glues
or a leather or saddle shop. Just saw you
were from Eng. I'm not sure if it's available
there. Not that you don't have what we have
but it is flamable and It probably cost a
fortune to ship
