The saga of Eugene and Spencer.... catch a bunch of stocked trout (probably exceeded their daily limits by the way) and they make a smoker. That happens a lot in the Appalachains.
I know that the show is contrived but I still find it kind of fun. The moonshiner show never really caught my interest, but I know there are people like that. That $650 used chainsaw made me chuckle when you can buy a brand new one for $300 that would have served them equally well.
I found the gold mining shows really interesting. The commercial fishing shows (Alaska and East Coast) kind of boring after a while. Watched the first year of the Alaska king crab fishing just about every week. It was something new to me and as a result interesting. River Monsters is the one show that I can watch the episodes over and over again. I do the same thing with Star Trek. Jeremy Wade does a good job. The Oklahoma noodlin' was certainly interesting and Jeremy's comments reflect mine... a bit frightening and dangerous to me unless you are doing it to survive.
The Turtleman (Ernie Brown) is certainly entertaining at times but he turns me off. (Probably has something to do with his teeth and stupid yell.) He does stupid crazy things. Guess he is a big star now Lebanon KY.
The reality shows are certainly interesting and I find myself choosing to watch them a lot in general over regular TV programing. All things get old, even Survivorman and Bear Grylls.
The Greenland gold and precious gem show was certainly interesting if somewhat boring even though the producers tried to make it interesting with the interaction of the people involved. I watched it every week and watched some episodes a number of times. Looks like nearly an impossible place to survive without the infrastructure of humans. I believe those boys pretty much struck it rich in Greenland even though the show wasn't so entertaining show to show... pretty much the same thing and six episodes was enough.
