This is a new project that I just started working on; a Japanese style bowie.

The blade is 3/16" O1 with about a 9.5" blade.

This one is going to be a pure fighter, so I'm probably going to make it double edged.

On to heat treat next!

Next, I paint the blade with Dykem and layout my grind lines.

On to rough grinding.

At this point, I don't need perfection. The goal is to remove material and establish the basic geometry and look.

I leave the edge thick, and leave a bit of flat between the opposing grinds.

I also take some material out of the handle to achieve the balance I want.
