We were with family for Thanksgiving. Two grandsons were demonstrating their bushcraft fire making skills. Batoning kindling, making feather sticks got some dry pampas grass heads for tinder and so on.

The older grandson got a new Tops knife and ferro rod from his dad. He was using the knife with justified pride. Younger grandson was getting along well with his Mora but you could tell he was all about his brother's new knife. They got the fire going and I just kept quiet until later. I had my Nathan version Kephart in the truck. It was clear someone needed that knife more than I did.

The boys do a lot together outdoors. 100 mile backpack trip through the Black Hills this summer for example. Next time they get another wild hair they will both have truly top shelf knives with them. He loves it and it's a great feeling to know it will be carried and well used. Thanks Nathan for making such great knives.

And now they know who Horace Kephart was. And who Nathan Carothers is. Good times.
