I managed to score one of the leftovers from the Blade Show, and got this in the mail a little over a week ago. I had a family emergency a day or two later, so finally got a chance to check it out in detail this weekend.

It's a very nice t-shirt... the knife is not too bad either! :D

So one of my chores for the weekend was to get the brush that has grown up around the old swing-set (never used...it was here when we bought the place in 2005) so that my wife can start getting that area ready for a chicken coop. Here I am ready for work.

Gratuitous knife porn.

I chopped most of the small bushes and saplings...

...but used a draw cut with the rear part of the blade when I cutting near the chain link fence.

And I must be picking up some of mountainmist's bad habits, since I think I hit a few small rocks that may have been near the shrubbery.

I didn't see any rocks in this photo, but there were a few small nicks on the blade when I was done clearing out the area.

I cut so much brush, that I decided to use the lawn tractor and trailer to haul away the debris.

After that was done, I needed to go mow around the north gate of the pasture, and noticed about 5 or 6 saplings/small trees starting to grow around the pole barn, so I stopped to take care of then since I had the M18 on my belt. Maybe it's my imagination, but it seems to carry lighter than the BK9/BK24 piggyback rig that I sometimes carry when I'm working outside.

After that, it was almost noon and time to make a decision.

I chose the Blue Moon. And yes, that's a bottle of poison ivy and brush killer right next to the oatmeal...don't judge me. I thought it made a really "artsy" background, so I kept it there.

Once I was refreshed, I used a stone and then a fine diamond sharpening steel to work out the small dings. It sharpens up beautifully! If I was really motivated, I'd make a strop and learn how to do that, but baby steps for now...

But I was motivated to work on the Tramontina cane knife that I had bought when I was stationed in Hawaii, and only recently found in a box in the garage. I had put a few dings in that blade trying to chop stuff that was too thick, so I got them files smooth and cleaned up as best I could. I think the two will make a great pair for cleaning out the big and small stuff around the house and pasture.

I'm very happy with the quality of Todd's (and Murph's) work, and wife is happy with the progress made so far in prepping for the chickens. I'll definitely be buying more from Todd in the future (and a certain other knife maker that hangs out on the Becker sub-forum if he happens to notice this)!

Nice score man. Sweet looking blade.

Wow! Nice M-18!

Congrats on the score. I hope to someday get my hands on one myself.

Thanks for giving us more pics to drool over!

Yeah, it starts there, next you'll start cutting yourself 15+ times a day, and misspelling words like "like," "want," and "the." :D
