The contours on mine are quite slight, but are there, too bad they did not honor fixing your situation.
As to grit and opening of the folder, mine was soso, one thing I tend to do with about every knife that has bronze washers is take it apart, clean off all the gunk that may be there, and using my index finger I press down on the washer while rubbing it on a white fine ceramic spyderco stone to get the surface polished, at least those highest points. I reassemble and use some nano oil to lubricate the pivot area and it does help.
I was fortunate to be able to get mine from @DavidZ as he was gathering funds for a different folder and told me he might put it up for sale. Now...there is no telling how long I will hang onto this, but right now I like it and will see if and when it falls out of favour to help fund something else.
