MI Spring Gathering

Back from the trip, outstanding time! The new guys, Peter, Todd, and Cooper, are every bit as nice as they seem to be from their posts, it felt as though we had known each other for years, great hanging out. I`ll see about pictures tomorrow.

You lucky dogs. I wish I could have been there.:(

back home safe, played the napping game for a while :) I'll get some pictures up soon.

had great time, thanks all

Thanks for the pictures, John!

It is always a great time - and it is good to get some new fellows up there!

Thanks to Cooper, Todd and Peter for making the trip - and Jeff for getting the cabin lined up once again!

The breakfast that Todd made was outstanding, and Peter provided all with a hand-made lanyard with wooden bead!

Uncle Bill and Sean provided a ton of chips and beers, so we had plenty of food to keep us warm.

I think we burned the better part of a face cord of wood!

On Saturday morning, Mr. K hid some business cards around the camp site, and each card had a prize associated with it - my card won me a beautiful new Buck 110 with some outstanding figuring to the wood.

John gave a very generous prize to each person that attended. He also brought the apple wine again, which is a very tasty treat!

Made it back home to Peoria around 1pm, just in time for the family to come over and have dinner.

it was great to meet all of you. thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome. i really had a great time. great pics guys!

i will echo what andy said. thanks to jeff for organizing (and the cabin). thanks to john for the prizes and the great hats. i also got a couple folders from him. And, Andy forgot to mention the gracious knives that he gifted, as well. i love mine. And, Cooper and Peter helped me solve my one-handed folder problem (thanks guys).

Everyone chipped in with the food, and we all ate like kings.

Sean and Bill...sorry i didn't get a chance to say farewell this morning, but i had to hit the road. it was great hanging with you.

looks like you all were having a lot more fun than I was.
maybe I'll be able to make it to one of these someday.

It was fantastic weekend.

It was great to see Andy, John, Sean and Bill again, and awesome to finally meet Peter, Todd and Jeff.

John is right, I feel like I have known everyone for years.

Scored my first Buck 110 in John's "Easter Card Hunt" and got an amazing price on a handmade knife, among other generosities. Pictures of the weekend's scores tomorrow after the sun is out, and I am more awake.

Jealous....looks like a lot of fun! Wish I were closer.

Hello all,

thanks again to Jeff for organizing this one and everyone else for everything else as said above,

Taht's I promise i did practice and could hit things before the competition, not every time, but I thought I might place :( (FYI only one of those hits was mine, I think the other was Jeff at this point and no one else had tried yet, we all practiced hard)
100_6503_zpsf3b9168e.jpg

100_6502_zpse1f8eab1.jpg

pictures have not been doing this one justice, this and the fishing knife were big hits with everyone I think

Things I learned:
Andy doesn't drink, weird I know
Todd cooks a mean breakfast
Cooper is younger then me
John and Jeff sleep outside at gatherings and after waking up in the cabin i can see why (it doesn't smell like roses)
The DBH could make me king of Kentucky
this is a nice group of people who don't' like dirty jokes at all
None of these people will try to kill you in your sleep, which is nice
This is a really special group of people
You wouldn't have to do as much work to get *insert name* ready for Halloween
And the only way to get a man with an advanced degree off your front porch is to pay him for the paper

There were other things, but I forget

Seriously, though, you have to make it top the gathering...if they don't they talk about you almost none stop :D

see ya

I'm having trouble remembering all the model names for the JK's I now have to add to the want list, it's not the worst problem to have

It was one heck of a table of knives

Great commentary, Peter.
I'm glad that you all made it home safe.

Here is the weekend's new acquisitions.

Also, John gave me an awesome JK hat, and a kydex holster for my gun. It fits perfectly. Thanks again.

He also gave me steal of deal on his fish knife.
