I was very inspired by the large blades posted after a recent Jason Knight class. I think this might be my favorite machete ever! I started with 1/4in 5160 and natural canvas Micarta. It’s 19 7/8in overall with a 14 5/8in blade. I hand ground in fullers n the flat ground blade and the tang is drilled out for balance. It weighs in at 23oz👍 It’s a great machete for a boreal forest being a little more stout.

Love it, now let's get one in 1/8"! LOL.

Kinda reminds me of my situation many year back, except my bed was on carpet.
The only real reason for a bed frame is to store more knives under the bed!!!

1/8in and 3/16 sound like cool ideas but I cannot buy my 5160 in those thicknesses with the width required to fit the pattern. Maybe someday I may play with other available steels that could work.
Just chuck your bar in hot coals and then wail on it with a hammer till it gets thinner....
