Sometimes I go hiking and my eyes get drawn to animal tracks, sometimes to birds and sometimes to plants but today it was a Fungi day !
My TTSK with some Yellow Brain Fungus.....
Some type of Coral Fungi, very cool eh !
Check out this big guy pushing his was up through the moss....
I decided to try out the Canadian Jam Knot with some natural cordage( Cedar root), it didn't work as well as with Para cord but it did tighten up and would be a good start for a lashing......
I then finished it off with a kind of timber hitch type thing......
A little further along there was more fungi......
Check out this cool little guy....
I struggle with wild edibles at this time of year but I did find some liquorice Root, boiled up this makes a tasty tea that cures colds ! Arbutus tree leaves were also in this area, boiled up they also cure colds and stomach pains so I guess a tea made with both would be pretty good stuff !
The girls enjoyed their walk as usual....
