I recently picked up this bushcrafter from deadeye and ordered a new sheath as well. I actually ordered a sheath for a bushfinger, but Jared customized it to fit both the bushcrafter and bushfinger. I really like this combo!

Thanks for looking!

That is very nice indeed. We have similar knife handles on our Bushcrafters. Thank you for sharing those photos. It is a beautiful combination. Well done!

Well, I'm glad you traded it.... and that it stayed on this forum.

Yeah, i got it basically new from someone else thats a member of the forum, but i bought it on ebay. He didnt use it at all basically, i used it, but i took very good care of it, Just thought id let you know that its been in good hands!

It is pretty hard to let them go. I have not been able to sell any of my knives. I got loads of them and I am getting ready to cut some loose here soon (no pun intended). ;)

I am glad the knife stayed within this forum as well. That is the way it should be.

Excellent, now get J to make you a matching fire steel. I've got like 4 now, he's a specialist! And a heck of a nice helpful guy...

J - you moved the strap to the front and cut it perfectly. It carries over the general pattern of the sheath and gives it unity. Great work man.

That combo is an Heirloom man. Love it.

Thanks TF! Yeah, I made that change right after you suggested it and it was a good move.

Northridge, I'm glad you like the sheath. That combo should do you a good job for many, many years to come.

As for a matching firesteel, I would love to make you one but it might not match. I don't have any green burlap and word is that Shadetree is no longer in business. So buy up your burlap goodies while you can.

that's awesome. good stuff. and great looking sheath jared. congrats on a beautiful pairing kyle.

can i ask you why you decided on the bushcrafter rather than the bushfinger? was it just availibility? or something else? i don't want to hijack your thread, but i just have to ask. i've often wondered the differences....the specs look about the same. thanks bud.

I, of course, can't speak for why someone would pick one FB over another. But for me (I have a hunter, hiking buddy and Bushfinger) I can say that knife choice can come down to the tasks needed. Personally I would choose a Bushfinger over a Bushcrafter because of my need of a sharp point. I plan on using my 'finger deer hunting this year. A Bushcrafter would not be as useful in the animal processing category because of the design. But it excells in the bush.

It all comes down to your expectations and plans of that particular knife. Choose wisely, and your fiddleback will not only serve you well but outshine the competition!

Thanks Todd!

I really like both knives - I will probably get another bushfinger. I don't think there is a significant difference in the how each knife performs - both knives are excellent choices. My choice to stay with a bushcrafter was personal. The bushcrafter has a little bit thicker blade which takes a bit more abuse while battoning, IMO. Also, micarta holds up a little better in the weather and Texas weather changes very quickly (I had wood scales on the bushfinger). The last thing is I grew up using spearpoints for bushcraft/camping, so this blade shape just felt more comfortable to me. As far as differences go, I think the bushfinger might be just a little bit longer. Either way, you can't go wrong.

thanks for the info guys. as you were.

and btw schmittie...that is one of my favorite jack handey quotes.

Assuming you are talking about the combo of the knife and the sheath (and I don't know what else you would be talking about, I just have a great distaste for assumptions) then I couldn't agree more. Northridge88 you have a seriosuly winning combination there. A stunning knife complimented with a really smart sheath that looks very rugged and durable (ie: practical) but also elegant and refined. Sounds just like Andy's knives doesn't it...a really great combo! Well done Mr. Oeser :)

A quick question for you Northridge88, and sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but does the dangler clasp detach from the sheath?

Thats a great looking setup you've got there and Jared makes an awesome sheath which complements your BC very well.
Congrats and thanks for sharing.
