This is what I would consider a large field knife or a small Camp knife. Add a hatchet and you'd have the bases covered.

This may change as it moves along but here's the plan.

6" edge
10 3/4" Overall
Tapered tang
1/16" double row of pins

Undecided:
Stabilized Wood or Micarta
Thonghole
Swedge

That looks great a place to start that will do some work.
 
Coolio, is it just me as I am seeing a little Ed Fowler in the lines.
 
How is this one coming along? Do you see my point about being Fowler-esque? I say in Osage orange, no lanyard hole since only 6 inches long, and cannot decide on swedge. What about a wood handle with a micarta bolster or vice versa? I think some of that DI you got may look good on it. :thumbsup:
