You can compare it to the word "Buoy." I chose #5 as it is the correct pronunciation.

Yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat. I know how it is supposed to be pronounced but admittedly, I grew up saying it as bo-wee. It might be a Yank thing but we all called them bo-wee knives when we were trying to fake scalp each other growing up.

I like being informed on the "correct" nomenclature (due to an unfortunate proclivity towards insert-foot-into-mouth syndrome) so when I ran into the first fella who insisted it was boo-eee, I had to dig into it, lest I look the idiot. Sadly, the fella was right but I still call it a bo-wee - force of habit, I suppose.
