Oops, I forgot my Beavercraft leather strop. Shown side has 4-8 micron diamond paste from Boride Engineered Abrasives (5 gram syringe in Adamas box in first picture). Other side has green chromium oxide wax.

How long have you had the Sharpal plate? How hard have you used it, and how is it holding up? How flat is it?

Thank you for your question.

Sharpal diamond plate is my newest addition. Got it a few days ago & haven't used it yet. I'm still working off of the yellow & red plastic based plates, moreso these days on the S SATC plate, & on the rods (Dexter diamond, fat ceramic). The buffing wheel sees some runtime when I'm looking for a very polished edge to test vis-a-vis a toothy edge.

So no assessment of the Sharpal yet. I snagged the Sharpal based on YouTube vid from Outdoors55 where he found virtually no grit contamination on the 1200 fine side (i.e. large irregular grit particles, typically migrated from coarse side by handling in manufacture I suppose). According to his reportage, such contamination is very common. So finding such a pure consistent grit size is a rarity.

Here are some additional pics of the Sharpal 162N diamond sharpening plate. It came very well packed & included an angle finder pyramid (14, 17, 20, & 25 degrees) with magnet embedded in its base that makes it stick to the steel plate. There's a soft rubber pad on the bottom of the plastic case that works well to stabilize it on laminate countertop material. The raised corners of the plastic case work well to hold the 8"x3" S SATC plate as shown in the one picture & other similar sized sharpeners I would expect.20240227_222830.jpg20240227_223048.jpg20240227_223325.jpg20240227_223522.jpg20240227_223543.jpg20240227_223646.jpg20240227_223939.jpg
