Can anyone give me some links to get kao wool and a coating for it. On Ron Reils page he suggests using ITC 100 but it looks expensive as you have to buy it in bulk it seems. On Don Foggs page he uses a mortar mix to cover his kao wool. What is best? I am gonna build a freon tank forge and want to do damascus. I want a site that will give me prices on kao wool, a coating for it, and some boards( kiln floor material) Any help would be appreciated. Cory

Hello Cory,

I'm lucky enough to have a major refractory manufacturer in town and I bought a roll of the 2" thick stuff. I have more than I know what to do with. I'd love get rid of it to a worthy cause and make some space. Drop me a line and we'll work out the details.

Sincerely,

Check out Johnstone Supply at WWW.johnstonesupply.com they carry dry type and wet type Koawool and Koawool boards
also for coating it you can try Pyroseal,
its a little hard to put on but drys when heated and makes a nice hard coating.
