Up for sale, this 285 mm Yanagi in AEBL at 63 rockwell hardness.
Heel height is at just under 33mm.
Spine at heel is 2.86 mm
OAL 433 mm
The handle would be considered on the thicker side at about 1 inch height, and just under 1 inch width. Standard tapered octagon configuration with silver ingot spacer.

The price is being set to reflect the state of this knife, a great opportunity I think for someone who will sharpen and use this blade. I have way too many hours in this, but it has been a great experience in the making.
The edge is a single bevel grind with urasuki and is incredibly thin.
This one is being sold as a prototype study. It seems I do not have the appropriate water stones to complete the sharpening correctly, so it is sold as is and will need the sharpening completed.
The fit and finish isn't perfection, but is is quite nice. There are a few very minor scratches on the urasuki from the stones.

Please let me know if you have additional questions about the edge or knife in general.

Price $175.00 plus shipping.

Guarantee: If this knife fails in its intended purpose based on design and geometry I will give a refund. I believe it will be an excellent slicer.

Dude...i need that! ....what a steal, seriously. Good Luck with the sale.

Great work on your 2 knives that you have up for sale and I agree they are both a steal!

I will trade you for that! But I wont have one ready for a couple months :(

How about a tall 180mm K-tip petty in 8670? I have a few of those going to heat-treaters soon.

Brock, just curious, why not buy the stones you need and sharpen this, then sell it for what it should really be worth (> $175)?

I know. I just have too many other projects on the bench and I'm trying to clear some things off the bench and my mind if you know what I mean.
If it doesn't sell I'll get around to it.

What stones would I need to do this knife right?

I am still learning about this type of knife. I searched Youtube and there are several videos on sharpening this one. This one seems pretty good, but there are several others.
I don't have a good course stone, I have the finer stones. Shaptons all.
I think you would need to go down to a 400 or so to get that initial edge. It is almost there really, but I must have spent well over an hour with the stones I have.

Very nice, and a steal at that price. Unfortunately I don't need (vs. want) a yanagi otherwise i would have picked it up. Congrats to whoever got this one.

Many thanks Daniel. This one is on it's way to Oz, sold.
Thanks for looking all. I'll have another one in the next few months if there is interest.
