Michael Burch makes a great knife, as most of you know. I think he has designed the 'got to have' hunting camp knife. His BUSK and Combat BUSK models are great large choppers, and a smaller hunting knife is generally a must for deer and elk, but his Compact Combat is a nice combination of both.
These are CPM-154 with a Paul Bos heat-treat, .220-inch thick, 10-inch OAL with a 4.5-inch cutting edge. Both have G-10 handles which are removable for cleaning, and are recessed at the butt-end for hammering. The Compact Combat is make for hard use, in a small package.
I chose a camo "Burchbark" gun-kote for turkey camp, and a black gun-kote with orange G-10 for deer camp. (That way, if one were to wake up a little hung-over, they can remember what they are hunting that day, according to which knife is laying next to the cot ). These are tough 'little' knives, and I look forward putting one to use next month.
