Source for ferrules

I am making a fighting style Bowie knife and would like to try a ferrule and some decorative spacers. Maybe copper or something? I've seen some that look like copper rope that's inlayed and some coined spacers. Anybody have sources for these type things or are folks making their own? The ones I've seen from the knife supply stores look a little cheesy to me. Not that they're not good quality just not my style I guess. Anyway, thanks.

I think most everyone makes them to fit the knife.
