The Ugly Knife Thread

Now don't get me wrong - I love this knife as it was a gift from one of my Grandsons. He thought it was really cool and then bought it for me. $10 according to his Mom. How can you not love a knife obtained that way?

Still, it fits the subject matter of the thread, I think. ;)

Yes, those are real scorpions encased in some kind of plastic...

He could have done much, much worse! I would have to display it with the best of my collection, not because of what it is or isn't, but because of the love and thought that went into the gift!

My oldest grandson and I were walking through Smokey Mountain Knifeworks after he spent some time with us over the summer a couple of years ago. He was about 8 at the time and as we're walking hand in hand around the store he stops and says in a serious voice, "one day when I'm grown up I'm going to buy every knife in here for you". Best memory of that summer ever! And every time since then when we pick him up or drop him off for a stay with us he always wants to stop and look when we close to the store.

As far as ugly knives go, I've never owned any. I have however, own and have owned several that are far from beautiful!:D It's all in the eye of the beholder.

Böker carbon fiber knife.

The hell is this thing? Mall ninja metal detector deflecting shank?
Looks like something that crack addict came up with designing knife and then monkey executed the grindwork.

Maybe it's just "designed in the dark" genius design that you need to hold to appreciate, like giving hand job for unicorn, but it sure is ugly as hell!

One of the first knives I bought, I still can't make up my mind if it is hideous or genius. It sits well in the hand and is wickedly sharp, might replace the bone with some G-10.

I dont think you can get uglier a cold steel black coated knife that has just spotted it nemesis, work, mean seriousy that coating may as well have been called peel-ex

Ugly?? Wipe the dirt off and it's awesome!

Would normally use a fixed blade but picked this up many years ago for $40 NIB thought I'd beat it for that
Knifes been rock solid from day one cutting everything from branches to sod. Still no play in the blade

Started out as a Benchmade SOCP, one of the most useless "knives" ever. Handy little neck knife now.

So I got this ugly little bugger. That's a Bulgarian or Romanian-made AK-74 bayonet if I'm not mistaken. Russian-made ones have different markings, this one has none. The steel is absolutely terrible, those things are known for not taking an edge. Although the wire cutters work ok.

And there's this one. "Some say he carved it himself... from a bigger knife."

Since my last post was my well used recon and not ugly enough. How about my grandfathers tackle box knife from the 70s still floating around
