That's a much loved knife, for sure! Does the long nail nick indicate it was a Camillus made Buck? I can see you putting a shield in there with Grandpa's initials engraved, small as they'd be.This was my grandpa's 305. He was a pastor his whole life and only carried tiny little knives. The shield was gone long before I inherited it. I'd like to find one someday, so I can make it "whole" again.
That's a really great idea! I have some sterling silver plate I could make the shield out of. I would just need to find a jeweler or someone like that who did engraving that small. As to the original maker, someone more educated on Buck than me will need to chime in on that one.
