Looking for a trad style fixed blade for woods roaming 3-4 inches in blade length..I have a few moras and they are great, but I'm looking for something slightly different...I could go custom of course but would rather not spend that kind of green if I could avoid it.. and suggestions would be great.

Take a look at Bark River, you can find a lot of their models used but in great condition, at great prices in the Exchange. Lots of old timey models. Also, a lot of the custom makers on here offer models at very reasonable prices, many smaller models under a hunsky.

Also look at Scott Gossman. His knives are outstanding. You can find his forum under the Makers tab at the top of the page. His website is gossmanknives.com

Little finn all the way:

There is nothing that looks better on a knife than a stacked leather handle and carbon steel.

I like the little finn for sure but they are no longer made in carbon unfortunately now its aus-6 great suggestions guys keep'em coming

I found mine used on *bay. This one is a Western BSA Model No. 1381 Kerr's:WES08BS 4" blade 7.75" overall

The lower one is a new KaBar for comparison.

Case, Queen, Canal Street Cutlery, Northwoods, Bark River, AG Russell, DH Russell, Marbles, ...

Most of the traditional knife companies offer fixed blade choices. Just depends what you're looking for.

Here's a Canal Street Cutlery fixed blade that really impressed me:

Speaking of Gossmans, I am waiting on two Kepharts. One full size, one mini. Both are A2, and cocobolo that I picked out. Scott called me to tell me how good the coco looked, I am excited to see them! They are addictive, but if you want a good do all knife, go with a Gossman. I have a PSK, PSK Sr and WTK. Had a couple Buffalo knives and Tuskers, a semi skinner and a PSK Jr, got rid of them. How many times can you cry over spilled milk?

Apparently, lots...

He also does Nessmuks. If I can find a pic, I'll post it over here, but you can't get more traditional than the Nessmuk he did with stag scales.

Rapid River is another.

They don't get much notice but they are great knives. Also made in Michigans U.P. in the same neighborhood as BR, Marbles, and Northwoods.

A carbon puukko could be considered as a Traditional knife (albeit non American) Helle and Marttiini make them. Many other specialist&expensive knifemakers offer them of course.

Marbles USA were offering some blades, not too dear,in jigged bone in the Outer pattern. This might qualify?

Queen put out Hunters in three types of blades in three types of handle in D2 for about $40

There really are so many different options to choose from..

I think one of the best buys for an all around user is the Schrade Sharpfinger.
Very versatile and is probably one of the most comfortable knives I have ever held. You can pick up an early Carbon Steel version for probably 25-35 dollars.

I do have a nice Dozier in D2 that is a very nice knife, and would probably hold up to just about anything ya throw at it. It just doesn't have the character and personality of the older knives though..

My favorites that I own are the Schrade Sharpfinger and this little knife I picked up about 7 or 8 years ago..
It's a West-Cut K-3. The blade is 3 5/8 " and overall is 7"..
This thing is a pocket scalpel and Carbon Steel.. :D
You can find similar knives around for 20-30 bucks if ya surf the Bay a little..
