This is my Triton model with a single guard.

Blade length: 8 1/2 inches (tip to guard)

Good looking knife. May I ask what the large cut out in the choil is designed for?
 
It is my understanding that a choil IS a negative area in front of a guard. Although they are used for "choking up" on the knife, in my case when I design a guard, I like to have a recession before the guard to maximize the effectiveness without having an overly long guard. Think about the diagonal direction of the pressure of the material you are cutting (or the thing you are blocking); it's going to go directly into the choil.

A lot of knives use similar devices (this design was inspired by Striders). Maybe it just looks odd with one guard? Here is my standard Triton with 2 guards:
