These blue beasties tend to run heavier than the stamped weight on them.
Hatchet – 1 1/4lbs (actual weight 1lb 5+oz)
Boy’s axe – 2 1/4lbs (actual weight 2lbs 7 7/8oz)
Full size axe – 3 1/2lbs (actual weight 3 lbs 2+oz)
Double bit – 3 1/2lbs (Actual weight is 4 1/2lbs)
My inclination is to say that the eye is punched like that and it didn’t sustain damage.
I would prefer to keep the family together if possible.
