What is your preference on balisong size?

I just bought my first 4" balisong today. It is a Bear MGC with black handles. I like the size alot, its like playing with a toy balisong. I will always prefer the average 9" baisong though.

What size balisong do you prefer? Also add the type of blade it is or model number.

I like 'em around 4-5", the Benchmade 42 or maybe an inch longer. Much short than 3", such as a BM35, and they're just to small for my hands. Longer than 6" is just to long and just not weighted well for me. 4-5" are, for me, the fastest and most manipulatable. Though those who have seen me demo have seen my 18" blade and, yes, I can manipulate it.

I like the 3 inch size. Maybe my favorite would be a fancy one in black with a saw back blade. Never know when you may need a saw

Next in line I think would be the 2 inch custom with a ivory handle. My wife likes to carry the 2" size, and you will all be getting to know Mary Fa pretty soon, she carries the 2" bali with her keys. thanks, JohnR7

I like the 3" for every day carry and daily use. I like the BM-35S the best. but is to much of a collector piece to be my daily user judging by my inability to find them.

Sooo I now am using my BM42S. Which locks open to tight, even after return to the factory for repair. And .. the screws loosen all the time. Loc-tite? Hummm... But I feel is to big to be flashing in public.

The 3" never really caused me problems, but the BM42 does.

It's just to big to be acceptable by John Q. Public.

I like 6-7 inch handles, with the corresponding 5-6 inch blade. Balis in that size range swing with a good rhythm, and the weight or length of the handles serves to keep them off the back of your fingers when changing directions. Much bigger, and they get slow, and you might as well carry a fixed blade as a 8" folded knife.

As promised, here is a photo of Mary Fa with her favorite size Batangas Balisong, what do you think guys? Great pair or what? Of Bali's of course

I like the 4-5" for full-out flippin'.

I love my BM30 for finger rolls and aerials. she just kinda glides along.

It is illegal to carry a batangas in the GREAT state of Missouri. Curio only here.

Thank the Gods for the Buck Cross Lock.

>> Lovely... the girl... not the knives.

You don't like the knives? I have those custom made in Batangas. But they always seem to send me red and green, and it's the ivory color people like.

The women in the Philippines photograph very good. And why not, if you look on some of the penpal web pages, they usually have measurments of 36-24-36 and curves that do not end. They know they photograph well also, and love to have their photo taken. Once when I was over in Hong Kong attending a Filipino fellowship and I got the camera out, all the girls came running to have their photo taken. Before I knew it there were 35 girls all in a group to have their picture taken

That is very common for them, when they see a camera, they just start to form themselves into a group, to have there photo taken. Thanks, JohnR7 WWW.BalisongKnife.Com

I'm afraid that those knives are -- how shall we say it? -- "a little out of my league."

Are these a little bit more in your "league"? It's pretty much the same knife, the only difference is the size. Although I am beginning to wish I had asked them to put a horn handle on them. I asked for a ivory colored handle and I got red and green. I suppose it's not to late, I could have them make me some more of the mini's with a horn handle on them. I like 5" blade balisong. There weight may slow the manipulation , for me, but there a little harder to drop.
