What's in the name Jeep? (And the Becker lovers who love them.)

Was it named in honor of a cartoon character by the name of Eugene?

Could it have been a derivative of the military nomenclature letters GP, as I like to think meaning "general purpose"?

Was it true that surplus Jeeps could be had for $50.oo after the war?

Hmmmm....

I read a story once in school, fiction though it may have been, of a certain motor-pool mechanic who shipped a Jeep home piece by piece in the mail.
Was that possible?:confused: The writers of the TV series MASH explored this gag in the first season, in episode
12, "Dear Dad", Radar packs up a Jeep ~ one bite at a time.

What ever your Jeep story, even if it just comes within range of a Jeep, share away!
There is just something about a Jeep, like not-can't-having-a BK-9. :tickled_pink:

I never met a Jeep I didn't like!
"Meep, Meep!"

I love Jeeps. I currently do not own one, but I had a 75 CJ5 for a few years that I'd love to drive again.

This DJ-5 has the same wheel base as the CJ's. I love this thing in tight quarters, and one small advantage of having no front drive axle is the turning radius being certainly the smallest I've ever had. Parts tend to be getting harder to find for this though.

Once upon a time I had a purple Jeep Cherokee and lived in it for a few months. I saved some $$ and had a few adventures. Then someone T-boned me in an intersection. This made me sad but now I have a green Jeep Cherokee. The BK4 is my Jeep knife. I like jeeps and knives. The End. :D

I have a 1985 wagoneer on 40 inch tires. It is still in project mode but it was my daily driver on 33s for years. Now I have an 88 Suzuki samurai that I drive off-road. I have also had many 4x4 Toyotas with 32s and 33s that I have wheeled. Toyotas are my real love but the value of the old ones is over inflated so I am priced out of them. It is all good, the. Samurai is pretty bad ass.

And the official Beckerhead Jeep key

Who needs a Jeep when you have a Subaru?

This is arguable...I was a big Soob fan, but always knew a Jeep would be an upgrade. There's lots of clubs in the NW with modded 80's Subaru's that are friggin awesome. First to have shift on the fly 4wd, stole the boxter engine design from Porsche. Yeah, Subaru's are great, I loved my 99' Outback Sport. But...I'll keep my TJ forever.

I had a 99' Grand Cherokee Ltd that we really loved, until the wife drove it through a house. Yeah...
It saved their lives tho, crumpled in all the right places. Fantastic vehicle. I always wanted a Wrangler, took 2 years to find just what I wanted at a reasonable price. Almost a year later, no regrets!

The concept crew have debut'd another interesting rig.
