Fabian Damanet made his own wootz ,handforged it. Wootz is NOT damascus it is a monosteel.Blade=10",0.2" thick, overall lenght 15".Guard os wootz too. This forging takes a lot of time.A lot of fake optical Wootz is sold now just like Pakistani Cola cans damascus for a few bucks.

In fact, the crucible was from graphite, of course. :D

IIRC this was a "classic" recipe, a wootz which had the same components as the old blades.

Fabian is one of the guys who started making wootz after bein a participant of my second wootz workshop in France in 2003, where we first tried to reconstruct the Merv wootz ovens Dr. Ann Feuerbach discovered. He and nowaday makes very, very nice and very high quality crucible steel material.

Achim

Achim is one of the pioneers of wootz in Europe and his blades are top world quality. And lucky for the "younsters" he shares his knowledge with all of them.

A pretty nice knife, Fabian made there!

Thanks for showing, deovolens!

And in fact Achim Wirtz is one of the leading experts for wootz over here in Europe. :D
