I tend to buy my cutting tools in the winter and persue other interests, or dovetail various interests the rest of the year. So I have been taking one of my C.S. Spec. Forces shovels (I have three of them), out while metal detecting in the bush. I love these things ! Small enough not to be a weight or size burden, but large and strong enough to be very tough. It also gives me a little extra comfort when coming across homeless person camps in an isolated spot. One guy had an open fire, a bottle of wine, and a hatchet in a log beside him as he laid passed out. I come across these little camps fairly often, right here in the city. One evening a storm came up on me and I was dead tired, but had to go through a lot of brush to get to my vehicle. I just chopped, slashed, and bludgeoned my way out. I can't praise this inexpensive tool enough. They just rock !
