0.25 Inch Thick Knife or 1/4 Inch thick

Ranger RD6, 86 bucks shipped on amazon and I can make it through small trees and 2x4s in no time. I cut a 4x4 in half with it the other day to make a mail box post... It also doubles as a pretty decent crowbar.

Try the Ranger series. I think you would be well served with any of their blades. Of course, if you can afford the extra cash, go with a Fehrman.

Now, for something totally different:

The TOPS Alaskan Harpoon. 1/4" thick, 1095 steel, multiple hand positions make many tasks easy, sheath is adequate-good, VERY pointy tip.

I'm planning on getting the Esee-5 really soon and just want another knife. And the BK2 I will be getting later And If anyone knows a folder with 1/4" thick blade would be nice

It seems like the usual learning curve that newer people have to go through the 1\4 inch knife faze. I did it myself. Later you realize that the thinner blade slices better and is far lighter to hump around. Axes, hawks or machetes are another option for harder work.

That's where I started. I'm playing around with 3/32" thick right now. ;)

Lol my first good fixed blade was .25" thick, and it's still on my side at work every day ever since. Then again I tend to use mine as an axe, pry bar, hammer, chisel, ehhhh you get the point. But it's actually my last choice when it comes to just regular cutting.

Another vote for the thinner (3/16") scrapyard 511! It's a great hard use little fixed blade.

The edge has been thinned & convexed fwiw... Sheath in kydex is by omsin_

By far my favorite thickness of steel, from neckers to choppers!

I would suggest looking around the customs for sale forum, a smaller knife should be well within the range of many of our makers here, and with basic handle materials should be within your budget. This way you can do away with any undesirable features, have the grind type you want tweaked for how you envision the most work to be done, and have a personalized care if something goes amiss. You sound like you have options from the production models picked out, go with personalized knives!! I won't suggest specific makers, as I have nothing that thick and short, but the search is most of the fun until it is in hand!!
