joke: Viking humor (must be read with bad scandi-sotan accent)
since it's the middle of the winter, we can't go a-viking, so we all went over to Olaf's house the other night to eat his food and drink his mead.
there we were, talking about how bad the reivers were this year - that they had burned a steading a few fjords away.
then sven noticed that olaf had passed out.
"ho, ho, ho! I've got an idea" he said!
"lets then go outside and make a brush pile in front of his door and light it on fire and then yell: Olaf! the reivers are here and they're burining your house down!"
and we all drank more mead and agreed this was a good idea.
so we staggered outside and piled up brush in front of the door.
then Sven had another good idea: "lets pile brush under the window, too - so it looks more real!"
so we drank more mead and did that as well.
Then Sven said: "hey, Olaf is gonna be plenty mad when he comes out and sees us laughing - we better tie him to his chair and take his sword"
so we did.
then we drank up the last of the mead and staggered outside to light the piles of brush.

somehow the roof thatch caught fire and pretty soon the whole house was ablaze.
So we all started yelling: "Olaf! Wake UP! the reivers are here and your house is on fire and you're out of mead and tied to a chair and and we have your sword only it's not really the reivers, we're really drunk and playing a joke on you!"

And Olaf woke up and started laughing about what a good joke this was - until the roof caved in on him, that is.

anyway, that was the best joke we played on Olaf all week.
