A friend of mine introduced me to a lil old lady whose husband recently passed away, leaving her a good sized collection of...well just about everything. She's now in the process of selling off most of this stuff and among the "stuff" were a collection of knives. I was introduced to her in order to help her out in selling them. Now I need some help.
1. The blade on this is 13" long with a hammon line. I don't know what the hilt/butt cap material is, but the handle is definitely rayskin, wrapped in silk with a dragon mekuni. The wooden sheath looks like maple. There is some Japanese figures on both the back and front of the blade. The handle is afixed with a bamboo plug. She thinks her husband picked this up in the mid 80's from the maker. I know the makers mark is probably under the handle, but being unfamiliar with these types of knives I don't want to take it apart unless absolutely necessary. She's convinced she remembers her husband paying approx $5000 for this.
2. Has a 7 1/2" damascus blade, double edged. The handle almost looks like ironwood, while the sheath looks like ebony. The band behind the hilt and below the butt cap are mokume and the handles afixed with a bamboo pin. The maker on this one is P.H. Baldwin (off a business card) from Snohomish Washington. There was a phone number on the card that is no longer any good. I've looked the name up on the "net" and got zero results.

Any information on these knives would be extremely appreciated. Thanks.
