Sorry for the delay. Just a few pictures of what goes on during a short (2 days, 1 night) in a 3 person 3 season tent (Ferrino Stardust) from start to end in winter conditions. This is a hike (no heavy climbing involved, so we will just call it a hike), to the Aneto (3400 something m high) in the Pirinees Mountains (right on the border between France and Spain) to years ago. We took the Coronas route instead of the most usual way. It is less crowded and you can pitch your tent by the Coronas Lakes (alpine lakes indeed, not suitable for swimming on that time of the year!).
I am the one with orange jacket, blue pants, brown hat and mostly leather gloves (lined).
Drive from Bilbao to the parking lot (6h), park, get our shit together, hike from 1000 to 2600 or something like that. Quite a few hours. Late night tent pitching as its bests!
Another shot, almost done.
View from the inside out.
What we found when we woke up. Gear stayed outside so we could use the "porch" to cook, put on our boots and stuff. Water and warm clothes stayed inside.
About to start hiking.
Getting there! This section is much easier when there is a lot of snow. The more iced, the better.
Out of the rocky sections and almost there.
You can see the summit in the background (metal cross). This is called the Mahoma Passage (or Paso de Mahoma in Spanish, if you want to google it)
Crossing it, one by one, there is not much room for error.
And right on the summit!
Taking a nap before taking everything appart and hiking down to the van.
I guess I totally highjacked the thread... Sorry for that. Anyway, what I wanted to point out is that, as anyone can see, three guys (and we are not that big anyway, the tallest one is 1,73 and weights like 70kg) have a hard time doing anything but sleeping in a tent. Not that we wanted to do anything else!
If you plan to stay in the camp for any extended period of time, don't stick to a two person tent!
