~20 degree on the ak47 ?

I generally run my blades at 15° per side and use them pretty hard with no issues unless the blade hits a rock, nail, or something unexpectedly. Even then the damage has been negligible in my experience.

20° should be totally fine.
 
I’ve done 10 degrees, 12 degrees, 15 degrees, and 19 degrees.

19 has been my go to edge angle for years. It’s plenty sharp and requires very little maintenance.
