2007 Forum Knife Pattern Vote

Regarding that last post, I really meant to say vote, not poll. If everyone's willing, we could take the top five in the poll and run a vote on them, starting Tuesday, on style only, and then hash out material and tweeks, etc. They are, in order of most votes first; 3 blade stockman, stockman with punch, split back whittler, canittler, and doctor. If any new and interesting styles pop up in my conversation Monday, I'll let you know and add them to the list. Any objections?
Eric

Good plan, no objection. One vote only??

Hmm, what do you have in mind, get it down to the top two?

Incurable lobbyist that I am, I guess this is directed to anyone with stockman tendencies. A 3 5/8" stockman knife would yield a 2 5/8" main blade, and a 3 7/8" stock will still have a blade 2 15/16" which will satisfy the laws our United Kingdom neighbors suffer under! :grumpy:
I will (sniff:( ) forgo my vote for a punch, to achieve stockman consensus, and urge a vote for the bigger one. I pledge to buy a smaller or different knife next time, and in fact will not vote on the next, but will go along with whatever the next majority chooses!!
The one thing that is hard to reconcile in a democracy is the majority can bully the minority, so hopefully this attitude will mitigate that condition!
All in favor, don't forget to vote when the time comes!!

Me Eric? Top five is O.K. with me. My question just meant will we vote on one knife, or have a first or second choice?

Mate, the law is that the edge must be 3" or less. So a 4" knife should be fine. I have a couple in that sort of size with the main blade still legal.
Personally I find that anything under 3 7/8" is a bit too small in my big mitts. 3 7/8" is passable, but 4" is better.
So, I'm happy with any of the top 4 (Although the doctor is pretty, i doubt I'd carry it), but would like soemething that fills my hand.

Rosconey, Have you been in the lake effect snow nightmare that Parish and Mexico have been going through?

Eric

nope-got maybe 2 foot last week-im a few miles south of the major snow area-it starts about central sqaure

And I would like to begin officially lobbying for the Canitller. It too, offers 3 blades, all of which are legal in the UK, and has the additional attribute of being something different. Not only is it unique due to its combination of patterns, but the blade styles themselves are interesting and useful.

Who knows? If you get one of these knives it might change your life. You could take up whittling. Or canoing, for that matter! Remember, in 2007, vote for Canittler. You'll be glad you did.

This message paid for by the Elect Canittler Fund.

So far excellent suggestions. How about a Barlow of some type? Particularly a single bladed large one.

Running the risk of just agreeing.....I agree! Although I would love a whittler (don't really know why, I just like the name:rolleyes:) any of the knives will be welcome in my fledgling collection; I won't try to push anyone into voting for a knife that, selfishly, I want to own.
Vote for the whittler...the whittler

Waynorth,

thanks for considering the needs of us living in the UK.

Much appreciated.

And thanks for plugging the idea of a punch as well...;)

Some of us here like the traditional patterns very much but have to be careful what we carry.

Personally, I need a 4" to fit in my big paws, the same as Freezergeezer.

O.K. Sam, let's see your lobbyist license!! Do you realize how fast you were typing?? Only two fingers allowed!!
Seriously, I have a Cannitler! Cannitlers are cool!! Almost as cool as stockman patterns!!:D :D

EA42,

Going to let you take this lead. Always know I will be behind you for any help in the way you want it done.

It is bigger than I thought it was for last year, so do not hesitate to get in touch with me. (God willing I'll be there).

4" is fine with me, Casares! Whatever gives you the edge you want...;)

Rob! Rob, wake up! You were mumbling "ka-twittler" or something in your sleep! You must have been having a nightmare!!
Mom:D

Count me in on the knife. I have absolutely no clue what it is we are getting, but I want one. I don't want to just be a girly-girl on the outside looking in.

Where do I vote?
