2022 GEC Cattle Knife/Camp Knife #35 Thread

I'm still hoping to get one of these. I'd really love to get one of Charlie's but that may prove a bar too steep to leap over. If I can get one of the texdels I'd be content--they are more of what I prefer to the 71 caplifter I was able to get (a really nice knife, too). But the 35 is a great frame and the extra tool on the same spring is a bonus, right? Thanks for all the cool pics, folks. Keep them coming!
I should be able to post some pictures soon, woot! Texdel on the way.

Did GEC update their cover today? Its dated for August 17th in stead of August 5th like previously, nothing else seems to have changed.

They just want you to know that they know that you know that they haven’t updated anything in weeks. 😉

Adding screw to fix squeaks...

I thought for a second you meant squeaks in the knife… 😲😁

I have tried every drop so far. Struck out on all unfortunatly
I bought 2 on eBay, just could not pass on it. One will always be in my pocket. The 2nd will remain in the tube in case I lose the first someday. That’s how much I love the pattern, it will replace my faithful cap lifter! I’ve been waiting years for GEC to make an reasonably sized camp/scout knife.

Dang, you mean you want me to actually try it out. I really just like taking cool pictures of my knives. standby……

Seriously though, it will work with some finger retention on the open side to the bit. An actual hex hole in the blade would be better of course, but that requires a different process I’m sure.
Yes, definitely. I keep a few GECs as safe queens myself, but the company’s reputation as a traditional knife maker is very much reliant on these tools functioning as intended.
Punches that don’t open (now discarded from this pattern) and cap lifters that don’t work don’t help much with that reputation. So I am curious to see how that little wrench performs.

This one is definitely not going to live its life in a tube. Not sure how often the hex opening will be used though. i don’t open cans much either, but that can be used for other things like opening packages & such. Anxious to see the slip for this even though I don’t used them much.

I have had quite a few ring pulls snap recently and some baked bean manufacturers etc. still use traditional cans over here in England.

Its strange how pleased I am when a ring pull snaps and I can use a knifes can opener 😂

Brownie/Girl Scout dropout here, but good for you guys! ☺️

I have a silly question: Is the TexDel actually jigged, or is the jigging molded like the old Camillus Scouts? Maybe someone who has two of them can take a look and see if the jigging is identical? Not that it matters, I'm just curious.

I believe these are actually jigged, because you can see the tooling marks down in the "valley" of each scoop, if that makes sense. And they're all different, to my eye at least.
