Darren's ( waverave waverave ) #88 thread reminded me that we do not have a dedicated 49/94 thread - almost like we just skipped right over it. I get that the Flag Acrylic is polarizing (unnecessarily, in my opinion) but I think it a fine pattern and we'd be remiss in not having a place to discuss and show them off once they get in.

I am curious if GEC will maintain the whole "Red, White, and Blue" theme throughout the entirety of this run. You have an acrylic with patriotic flair, a vibrant red jigged bone - maybe we will see a blue camel bone? Also, if they do shields on the Northfield options, will we see different shields - maybe a Star shield, maybe something new?

Interesting to ponder whether they will make a truly themed run or not.

The red jigged bone looks great, love the threaded bolster. I would like to see something besides blue for the smooth camel bone, seems to be the default color lately, be nice to see some different. The star shield would be nice, I think I've only seen them on some #14 rendezvous SFOs.

They are growing on me, but still prefer round butt ends.
It might be kind of fun to own a $200.00 Gas Station knife. ;)

I think the Northfield versions will prove to be very classy - of course, that is dependent on shield choice (if any) and what they choose for camel bone.

A Camelbone could interest me, but no blue thank you, never had a blue knife and won't be after one either. I wonder if natural undyed Camelbone would take on the nice yellowing with age that often goes with Ivory Bone?

But, do I NEED another small GEC? They've not been very convincing with many of their small knives, this one would have to equal the very worthwhile small knives that Winchester Blackbox put out e.g. Small Gunstock and Norfolk.

But can shields be added after the bone is connected to the metal liner?

I feel like we’re going to see blue camel bone or white, seems how this will be the red, white and blue theme. And I don’t mind another blue camel bone run just prefer dark blue and navy blue verses sky blue or baby blue.

Not sure if this has been posted in another thread but this was posted by a UK dealer on their instagram. "So new 49/94 have a small fault, separation of art from looking glass acrylic that has happened after assembly. Everything else is usual top notch GEC." I didn't think there was enough space for the art to separate from the acrylic but I guess there is.

They are definitely growing on me, and I find myself kinda wanting one.
Maybe I'll give it a half-hearted shopping attempt, and if I'm lucky enough I may snatch one up.

I want one because of the Liberty bell. This was taken during my Chief initiation process in 2016. Additionally, everyone going to boot camp for the Coast Guard meets in Philadelphia and goes to Cape May, NJ from there.

When I first saw the mock-up of the Liberty and Freedom models I was “in”. But after further consideration of the size and seeing the build photos on the GEC site I’m reconsidering. Not sure I can articulate my post reservations/hesitation, but it’s there. The bone looks pretty good, but not knowing what shield or if there will be a shield had me reserving judgment. On the fence with this run.
