2022 GEC Liberty/Freedom #94/#49 Thread

haha... They are usually sold out before I even get to open the email.
Many times I've seen the email pop up, click on the link, and they are all gone.
So, either they post them for sale before the email goes out, or I'm pretty far down on the email list.
I should have put special emphasis on #2. 😁
I'm no IT Tech but I think servers send out 10k emails in about .02 seconds.
The above steps have worked for me on most knives I have really wanted over the past year and I only buy from 3 non-gouging dealers.

The few that I've picked up over the past couple of years have been offers to re-sell (at cost) from fellow forum members (enablers). :)
Question: Is there a way for forum regulars to re-sell to one another at sane prices that is more formalized than just knife exchange? I confess that knowing all the protocols of the forum rules is not is not my forte. 🤷

My problem is
I reach out directly if I have an extra and I know a regular is looking.
My problem is that I don’t always know who is looking and I’d prefer that a forum regular have the opportunity to get one.

You can always look at the WTB section. I've gotten pretty lucky a couple of times posting a want to buy ad. Not always for retail price but better than ebay thats for sure.

This is what I have done previously. If I happen to see someone post about it and I was fortunate enough to be in the position I have reached out and only asked to break even. It's crazy out there and I've been fortunate enough to have received my first GEC from a member at cost.

Still searching like crazy for a '19 BF86 ;)

If you follow the thread for the knife it usually presents itself, but not always.

Jiki Jiki answered it perfectly.
There is no other way to do it here other than to reach out to fellow members through the PM function.

My Liberty acrylic was a "flawless" bin, but daylight inspection shows small areas of delamination. I'm not going to bother my fantastic dealer about it, but will likely pass it on.

I got my #94 Liberty in today and I have to say, I am rather pleasantly surprised by this one. As a rule of thumb, I am not a fan of Acrylic covers - they feel "slimy" in hand and they do not hold up well to use (at least in any sense where one might want to preserve the look of it). However, I did like the patriotic theme of these and despite it being an odd time to release these (being Christmas and all), I am happy to have one in my possession.

The pattern itself is delightfully slim and elegant. It fits between the 14 and 15 in terms of length but is notably slimmer than both. The action is crisp and those who prefer a stronger pull will like these (in my opinion, not too strong and not at all too light, it is rather perfect). My example has a blade that favors the pile side ever so slightly but it is just a nit pick on my part - otherwise, the knife exhibits the high quality that we expect out of GEC.

The covers are really neat. Despite the problems they apparently had, I hope it doesn't dissuade them from doing this sort of thing in the future. The sky is the limit in terms of the art/graphics that can be overlaid with clear acrylic.

I am happy to see GEC run out some new patterns and I think if folks give these ones a chance, they could become pretty popular.
