3.5 Inch Blades are Perfect (for me.)

The knives I carry on a regular basis are a BM 940, a Vic Rucksack, and a customized drop point Opinel. All of these knives have about 3.5" blades. I would like to own a Griptilian, but the small looks too small, and the big one looks to big. 3 inch and 4 inch blades seem to be most common. What other production knives have blades that are close to 3.5"?

What about the BM Mini Skirmish and the Spyderco Spyker? Both of those are more or less 3.5. Another really hand filling 3.5" knife is Kershaw's Steven Seagal model. I know it's "only" AUS-8, but that is a good looking knife that I will have to buy one day.

Plenty, depending on what type of knife you like.

The antique Bruckmann knives that show up occationally are usually around 3-3/8".
Several of the OldTimer models will get you very close to 3-1/2".
Lots of small fixed blades are right there, including Bark River, Anza, etc.
The AG Russell One-Hand knives are 3-1/8"

Another 1/4 inch will get you in range of the Spyderco Endura. Highly recommended.

If handle ergos are right , I dont feel much difference anywhere in the continuim from 2 3/4 - 3 1/2 .

Check out the BM 921, it has a blade size very close to the 94x series, 3.45" or so.

Are you talking blade OAL or cutting edge? For me the cutting edge is important in looking at blade length as the non cutting section of a blade (ricasso) can vary from basically nothing as on an Opinel or Blackjack Slick to 1/2" to 3/4".

Tempest by Buck, blade 3.25" ATS-34, safety and assisted opening nub sit side by side making one hand opening a breeze. Pull-lanyard fixes neatly to post in end of open frame (open frame makes for secure grip). Good pocket clip helps makes it an excellent EDC.

Here is a link to the "Ritter Grip" wisely mentioned above by our friend: http://www.aeromedix.com/index.php?...4a9fa4ec726ffeb8aca084a8&action=sku&sku=bmrsk I want one.

All the best,

The new H&K Axis Lock Drop Point from Benchmade have a blade length stated at 3.4". The tanto should be around the same length if you're into that as well.

I think that cdf hit the nail on the head. If the handle fits the blade size isn't as important....to some extent.
