7" vs 9" blades....Pros and Cons of each.

Added to this argument, which would make a better size for a defense knife? I was looking at the R9 and thought I like the overall look and the micarta over the sycko 711's res handles(more for durability than anything), but wasn't sure if the R9 was too big to really use for defense if you had to. Just curious :P

I think an R9 would demolish someone/something attacking you if you had it handy. Swinging it like youre chopping a log would do alot of damage I think

Speaking of Busse and kin, I am comfortable with the Basic 6 and Basic 11 handling most of my needs. I do have a sykco 711 on order as a jack of all trades knife for no particular reason. It will probably end up in my truck for whatever need arises. I never cared for 7 to 9 inch knives.

If you don't really need either get the whole Rat 11 range and put them on display! That's my plan

The BR sheath is from Koyote Knives (Sierra)...I had one of his Bush Beaters and it fit the BR like a glove. I like it so much I asked Jeff (Rainwalker) to do one for the Tramp. They both have adjustable straps and chicago screws for lots 'o' carry options! The are awesome!

Maybe you could mount it as a bayonet on a .357. For the comment about longer knives being cumbersome, I plan to carry any knife over 5 or 6 inches on whatever pack I am carrying ... that keeps it out of the way. That's why I try to keep everything molle compatible. Mounted on the side of a pack, even a machete is an easy carry.
