After years of owning many 8cr offerings, S30V was by far the biggest let down in performance when I finally tried it out after all the good I read about it. It's not bad, but nothing special to me to justify the price. I have a few knives in 8cr that hold an edge longer than some of my S30V knives. Elmax has actually performed the best for me which I was not expecting after the horror stories of the web. Go figure.
