Last week or so there was a post on using a file guide for plunge cuts. I was going to respond with some pictures but my camera's battery needed re-charging and I got off on other projects.
This is a alternative to using a file guide for plunge cuts.
As long as Imager lets me copy pictures I will show how I do it.
1. I scribe parallel lines along the edge of the blade. There are many ways to do this. If anyone is interested I can show how I do it.
2. Then I use a steady rest and grind 45 degree grinds up to the parallel lines.
3. This gives me corners where the plunge lines will be.
4. Then when I grind, and I grind freehand. I stop the plunge cut when I get to the corner.
It's really pretty easy once you get used to it.
