Hi guys & gals!

We have a holiday today here in Germany, it´s fathersday and "Christi Himmelfahrt" for us catholics as well http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascension_of_Jesus (FYI).
So after I woke up this morning and chose my EDC I decided to go for a little walk in hilside behind my backdoor. So I took on my shoes, put the GEC #12 Powderhorn Jack in the pocket and went off... ;) It´s a warm and clear day today. Great to go out and enjoy the nature.

I don´t want to talk too much, so here are some pics, I´ve taken during the walk.

The entry to the top of the hill... :D

The way upwards

Passing a stream

A memorial to the fallen of WWI (1914 - 1918) and WWII (1939 - 1945) of my hometown for their sacrifice. Such memorials are pretty common in my area and somtimes they are in kind of strang places ... like this one - in the middle of the woods ... but nicely made and a great place for such a memorial imo.

On the top of the hill I took some panorama pics

Austria over there :D

... spring time - great time

and typical bavarian restaurant - we call it Wirtshaus - I went there for a good traditional bavarian meal

The way downhills... :D you need healthy knees for that

Just for fun shot :D

Have a nice fathersday you fathers out there and some good beer today! Cheers, gentlemen!!

That looks just about perfect. I'm carrying my new-to-me powderhorn jack (just like yours) in the hope that I can keep this post in my head all day.

Looks like a great spring day in Bavaria! Thanks for sharing, and a happy Himmelfarht to you! :D

Beautiful pictures. I'm getting really tired of city living, and those pictures reminded me of how much I'd like to move off to the countryside, or at least a small town. My knives in particular don't get any outdoor use, and that needs to change. And I miss hiking. Hopefully in a few years my situation will be such that I can finally move. We'll see.

I spent 2 1/2 yrs in Bayreuth from 73 to 76 with the Army. It still is one of my best memories of a beautiful area. We hiked all the time and the people were incredibly friendly and helpful. I keep hoping I'll get a chance to go back.Great pictures!--KV

Absolutely beautiful!! In my mind...that is what Paradise looks like. Thank you for sharing Andi.

Lovely pics Andi, looks like you're having a great day my friend. Thanks for the thread :)

I'd love to be able to head out my back door to countryside like that. A wirtshaus within walking distance would just be an added bonus. Beautiful knife too, thanks for sharing.

That looks like a nice walk Andi. Great looking blade too. We've got a holiday over here as well. Remnants of older times :-)... Some nice morals attached though, it's good not to forget that.

Andi! Where's the snow?! Is it finally gone?

:D

Thanks for taking us along on your ramble. :)

Fantastic shots you took for us Andi, it looks as though you had the perfect fathers day my friend, what a beautiful peaceful forest to walk in!
I always feel 100% at rest in a bush walk like that!
Thanks for taking us along!

Thanks for the kind comments, fellows :)

It was a nice day today in any case. I just came back to my home to celebrate the day with my dad... we did some grilling and had some great beer at all... unfortunatelly I forgot the camera at my house so I couldn´t take some before-and-after-pics :D :p

I really love the place I grew up in and already live in. I can´t imagine to live in any other place than Bavaria. It looks like paradise and propably it is... :)

The resting place in the woods is pretty usual here, mostly for tourists, but still very appreciated to the in-born-people here. You can have a great meal and some good beer for a reasonable price at all.

However... ;)

Thanks for the stroll, Andi!!

What a great place to live! Looks like you have a nice day Andi, love the knife too! Trevor~

So lush and green . I love this sort of thing. I can smell those big flowers and hear the buzzing bees. You've inspired me Andi.Thread forming.

Beautiful countryside and beautiful knife. I've been curious about owning one of the #12 Powderhorn Jacks for a while now. Yours looks great.
