UPDATE:
The new Omega springs which I made from cheap key rings are still going strong after 2 weeks
While opening the knife with the original springs required only a force of 3.7 oz the new springs measure 8.5 ounces of force at the very tip.
If not opened more than 1.5" the blade will jump back into the handle, the original had no retention at all and would not pull the blade back at all.
I opened the scales today and on one side saw a little grinding mark in the spring cavity. Not really a surprise that my springs rubbed around somewhere since they are thicker and not as accurately bend as BM's originals. I dremeled a bit in the scale and now operating the axis lock feels less gritty, but still as strong as before.
The next update will be once I replace the plastic frame spacer with something more substantial maybe something which can break glass.
