I got to handle one. I liked the 2 tone with the anodized titanium. looks real nice. I just didnt need one in that size class. ( 3" blade)

I have one. Well made. Very light for its size. I haven't really used it hard so I can't say how it will hold up. Just one thing, it feels a bit awkward in my hand and the design of the liner lock causes it poke my forefinger when holding it. Not a real problem, just noticible. Your friend really needs to handle one before he buys it.
