Advice please for grinding/polishing questions

I have a 110 finger groove with a one armed bandit on it. I have been thinking about giving the finger grooves more of a radius and maybe enlarging the first finger groove on the hinge end to give better access to the bandit.
I am very concerned that when done, the finish match the factory polish on both wood and brass. I would appreciate any and all advice on this.
For some reason, I seem to be one of those guys that just can't leave well enough alone. Thanks for you help.

You can try a red or green rouge on a soft muslin wheel at under 1800rpm. I use this to take out scratches on my knives, it will also work ok on hard wood or micarta scales. Tripoli will work too on brass, just keep the buffing speed low.
