Hello BladeForums Participants:
As an organization representing all segments of the knife industry, AKTI needs to make sure it has a process for soliciting and reviewing suggestions for various intitiatives and programs.
As we all know, there are people with strong opinions about what AKTI should be doing on their behalf with our limited time and money. And we want to make sure we are getting those strong opinions from people who have intelligently analyzed the costs and implications of their suggestions.
It's easy to criticize. It's tougher to come up with positive, practical and fiscally responsible solutions to the challenges we face as an industry.
The following AKTI Project Proposal Form was recently accepted by the AKTI Executive Committee to help us achieve our goal of both hearing and responding to input from the entire knife industry. It will become part of our website and our decision-making process.

The American Knife and Tool Institute encourages suggestions from dues-paying members. However, AKTI needs to prioritize every suggestion that comes to it because of limited time and money. Please help the AKTI Executive Committee fully evaluate both the risks and rewards of your proposal by answering the following questions and supplying any other pertinent information.
As a dues-paying member of AKTI, I would like the AKTI Executive Committee (Board of Regents and Advisory Members) to consider the following action or position:
In general, why should AKTI support or take action on this suggestion?
If this suggestion changes a current AKTI project/program, what do you believe are the problems/disadvantages of the current one?
Is anyone in the knife industry currently working on this area?
If AKTI does not support this suggestion or take action, what is the worst thing that could happen?
What are the projected dollar costs of this project or action?
What are the people costs? (How many hours of time will it take to accomplish?)
If AKTI moves forward on this suggestion, how many dollars will you donate to the effort and/or how many hours per week are you available to work on it?
