I tried out a couple CRKT Blade Lock knives, and while I liked how they opened (easier than anything short of assisted open) I didn't like how they felt in my hand.

Hmmm try a buck crosslock?
That's not even remotely similar.

I think that Spyderco had something along the blade lock design out a few years ago. I remember seeing it in one of their old catalogs.

Yeah, I couldn't find anything else like it either. Is the clip on the BladeLock 2 replacable with something more low profile?

Spyderco/G.Sakai Clutch Lock, out of stock at NGK, but they turn up often on Ebay and sometimes in exchange. Froogle still turns up a few.

Oops my bad, for some reason when he wrote "blade lock" I read "liner lock" and wel... the rest is history...
