Long thread , just found it , fascinating ! The teeth-I assume that was used as a saw for bone or large tendons perhaps . For tenderizing with a cleaver you would use the side of the cleaver.
Aluminum - In the 1920s auto makers started using aluminum in racing cars , for various parts .About the only alloy available was one with copper .The new Ford pickup bed uses a similar alloy !!! A handle in 1915 ? Possible butperhaps not probable.
In my own butchering I never had a splitter to test on goats, lambs , deer , or calves .
