Does anybody on this forum shave with a straight razor? If so, let's see them.

It is a lot more demanding, but a lot more satisfying than a disposable or safety razor.

Here's one of mine, a Thiers Issard Medaille D'Or Exposition Alger with blond horn handle.

I've got all sorts of straight razors and hones and stuff.
Nothing beats a British horn handled razor from the early 1900's.
Well until you use an Italian razor with a Japanese Feather blade.

The Focus Slim is pretty much foolproof but the professional razor is wonderful with so much sound. It just clicks with every hair cut

Now ask me whether I have abandoned my ancient razors

My barber shaves my neckline with a straight razor. With heated shaving cream. I love it. I used to work outside all winter long, so my full beard is always at varying lengths depending on NE weather... my wife likes a full beard, but if I ever shave daily again, I would love to use a straight....

Those are nice but go for a pretty penny. I've been looking for one under $150 but no luck yet.
I had no idea, I just pick up used razors at flea markets and antique stores when I find them for cheap. I do prefer the heavier grinds that some of these old Sheffield's have though. It takes about ten times as long to hone them initially but they are not bad after that.

I am a retired barber with too many razors to take care of.. might you be interested in seeing/discussion some rare straight razors?

Wow guys all your razors are beautiful expensive ones - Mine are just cheapie Chinese ones.
The only reason I can get them to tree-lopping hair sharpness is patience and a steady hand for hours initially with French coticules then just regular stropping with 1 micron ? green jewelers rouge then linen and plain smooth leather strops - I have even used a leather belt with a bit of toothpaste on it in some hot (105 degrees at midnight in July) dingy hotel in Hurghada - Egypt - worked fine !
