looking at getting a master hunter in san mai for my brother and was wondering where the limits are as far as bushcraft is concerned. the fallkniven f1 is pretty much the same blade and people use it for bushcraft pretty hard..anyway he is looking to hike the appalachian trail and was wondering if it would serve well as a good all around knife he could use for everything (skin animals, fillet fish, process and split wood, ect). at 80$ it seems like a good deal. trying to keep the bade length around 4 inches for legality sake which is why the master hunter is a blade i considered. there are a few other blades around that price and maybe a little more im looking at as well from other company's.

so i guess has anyone broken a master hunter and if so how?

Used my Carbon V Master Hunter for 20 years. Never broke it. But then, never batoned
it. If the length issue is negotiable the SRK would be better.
